Maintenance costs slashed with roofing sheets

After 27 years, a range of stable blocks at the New Lodge Riding Centre in Eltham S.E.London has been made virtually maintenance free thanks to Onduline roofing sheets.

The centre, built in 1978 to provide facilities for the charity, Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA), had five stable blocks of timber construction with mineral felt roofs.

After time, these roofs became a constant worry with the mineral felt needing regular maintenance particularly after strong winds.

With the purchase of a new feed store, some 10 years ago, the management of the centre were introduced to Onduline, the roofing material on the new building, and it proved to be a revelation.

They discovered that the Onduline needed virtually no maintenance even after severe gales so the decision was taken to re-roof all the buildings with Onduline as and when the mineral felt needed replacing.

The re-roofing programme started in 1996 and is now completed.

The result is that maintenance costs have been slashed, a major consideration given that the Centre is a non profit making registered charity run primary for the benefit of the RDA.

The fact that Onduline is so easy and safe to handle and fix was seen as another major benefit since renovation work is carried out by the centre's own workforce, supplemented by a team of volunteers.

Onduline bituminous corrugated roofing sheets are lightweight but extremely durable.

They have BBA certification and carry a 15 year insurance-backed guarantee.

Sheets are available in 4 colours and are supported by a range of accessories to aid fixing.
