Multi-Room Audio And The Connected Home
Mark Coombes, Export Manager of Opus Technologies will be the lead speaker of the "Connected Home Audio" section at The Connected Home Convention.
Following in the Opus tradition the VSU500 is both exceptionally simple to install yet feature rich and flexible.
The VSU500 simply attaches to an Opus MCU500 master controller and requires no specific set-up.
Whilst the MCU500 handles the audio, the VSU500 now handles the video, routing up to 5 composite video sources to screens in up to four zones at the same time (over standard co-axial cable).

On A Wall Of Its Own
Opus Launches WCU300 the only Keypad specifically engineered for sub-zones to feature independent bass, treble and balance control.
When a source is selected through an Opus Wall Control Unit (WCU) the accompanying video is automatically selected by the VSU to be sent to the video screen in that zone.
"The VSU500 is another example of Opus's focus on designing high-specification multi-room home entertainment equipment that meets the practical needs of the consumer and comes in at a low price point," said Matt Bramble, technical director of Opus Technologies.
"The burgeoning market for multi-room home entertainment systems is looking for easy-to-use, high quality audio and video systems.
Opus is well positioned to meet these needs." Utilising the infra-red (IR) receiver capabilities of the WCU, all source equipment - audio and video - can be managed via Opus system remote controls or Opus learning remote controls from every zone in the house.
More features and benefits of the VSU500: * Plug and play style installation with Opus MCU500 Master Control Unit.
* Allows user to route output from a single satellite receiver to all rooms in a house.
* In addition to the 5 video inputs, the VSU500 also features a CCTV input.
In conjunction with standard CCTV system.
This allows the user to 'see who's at the front door' from any room in the house.
* All inputs all have loop outputs allowing a main AV system to be connected for surround sound in a particular zone e.g the front room.
* Provides on-screen display capability for control of sources e.g Marantz DH9300 music server or satellite receiver.
The Opus VSU500 Video Switching Unit is specifically designed to work with the Opus MCU500 Master Control Unit and has a recommended retail price (RRP) of £375 excluding VAT.
