Opus Technologies Adds Video Capability
New Opus VSU500 Video Switching Unit significantly extends multi-room system functionality.
These amplifiers allow the system to deliver higher quality sound into larger rooms and allow the system to be fitted in properties that have been 'standard home-run' with Cat 5e for audio.
The Opus DZM50 and the Opus DZM100 join the Opus DZM20 to create a range of amplifiers that meet the needs of any room no matter what the size.
With an output of 50 and 100 watts per channel, the DZM50 and DZM100 are suitable for large and very large rooms (beyond that of a 15ft x 15ft room where the DZM20 would be more appropriate).
They can also be chained so that if a long room (like a picture gallery or ballroom) were being fitted for Opus, multiple set of speakers could be installed to meet the demands of this space.
The DZM50 and DZM100 require a local mains power source, unlike the DZM20 which is powered by the special Opus BTC1 cable, and as a consequence can be connected to the Opus 500 Series just with standard Cat5e cable.
The Opus range of DZMs use state-of-the-art digital zone amplifiers which contain separate pre and power amplifiers.
Various functions such as volume, bass, treble, balance, are micro-processor controlled while the high efficiency power output stage generates extremely low levels of heat, making them ideal for locating in confined spaces such as ceiling voids.
In addition to this efficiency, a local input facility on all models enables a local source like a bedroom TV, playstation or hi-fi to be played through the ceiling speakers in that room.
The Opus DZM50 has an RRP of £300 with the Opus DZM100 at a RRP of £380 (excluding VAT) and are available from specialist authorised dealers world-wide from December 2003.
