Better building for Britannia
Orbit Developments has continued to see an increase in demand in the North West lettings market with its recent deal to Britannia Building Society
The deal, at the much sought after Tytherington Business Park in Macclesfield will see Britannia take 19,624 sq ft at the parks Sandalwood Court property, at circa GBP14.50 per sq ft, plus GBP300 per car space on a 25 year lease with a 15 and 20 year break.
Located just one and a half miles from the centre of Macclesfield, the Sandalwood Court property will provide Britannia with a modern working environment and will be the second northern base for the company.
Julian Lythgoe, Estates Manager for Britannia Building Society stated: "We undertook an extensive search to find a property that best fitted our needs and Tytherington Business Park offered us the perfect solution.
We have our principal offices in Leek so the close proximity between both centres is ideal and enables travel between the two to be kept to a minimum".
Founded in 1856, Britannia Building Society is the UK's second largest building society and boasts nearly three million members.
With group assets of over GBP37 billion, Britannia was voted one of the best big companies to work for in 2008 by The Sunday Times.
Originally purchased in 1992, Tytherington Business Park has grown to provide approximately 250,000 sq ft of office and light industrial buildings.
It also has planning approval for a further 250,000 sq ft of high specification offices.
The Park boasts a variety of tenants including Spectus Windows, Informed Direct, SunLife of Canada, Thomson Acumed and now welcome Britannia Building Society.
Julian Lythgoe continued: "Sandalwood Court is perfectly located for staff and clients due to its close proximity to the M6, Manchester and Stoke.
It also offers staff a variety of amenities which appealed to us, including a hotel, a pub, a recently opened Subway restaurant and a children's nursery provided by Kids Unlimited".
Paul McLeman, Director of Leasing for Orbit Developments stated: "The letting to Britannia contributes to the on-going success we are having at Tytherington and demonstrates the continued demand for high quality office space in the area.
In conjunction with another deal about to close on the business park will see over 30,000 sq ft of space let in the first quarter of 2008.
We are also speculatively developing another building of 16,000 sq ft which will be completed by June 08.
Despite the prophets of doom we are continuing to provide space in the Cheshire and South Manchester market and are seeing strong activity across all areas in which we operate'.
