Oventrop valves have been specified for the wards refurbishment project at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby.

The company's mechanical services valves have been used throughout the first two phases of the refurbishment with a third phase about to begin.

As well as stripping out all the heating and domestic hot water systems, the existing hot water infrastructure was also replaced by the contractors, which was causing temperature control problems.

To ensure stability with the system, Oventrop Aquastrom T Plus multifunction DHW secondary circulation regulating valves have been installed on groups of returns.

The valve provides significant energy savings by thermostatically controlling temperature and flow in the system and simplifies the commissioning stage.

In addition to temperature balancing, Aquastrom also provides a hydronic balance of the DHW circuits and enables automatic system pasteurisation when the hot water supply temperature is raised above 70C.

The valve always provides a residual flow rate to maintain continuous circulation and prevent dead legs.

LPHW supplied from the third floor plant room serves ceiling heater panels in each of the wards, the single rooms and the en-suite facilities.

Every panel has an Oventrop commissioning valve, a strainer and isolation valves.

During the first phase, pipework was installed from the plant room down to the ground floor level and then linked into it as each phase progressed.
