Weatherite ensure MOD kitchens are kept cool

Weatherite Building Services has installed a new kitchen ventilation system at the Ministry of Defence's barracks in Gloucestershire.

Pierse Contracting awarded Weatherite the contract to install twin-shell stainless steel extract cassettes within the ceilings of two kitchens and two utensil wash areas at the Duke of Gloucester Barracks.

A special feature of the new system is that its modules, collection troughs and supply air cassettes can all be easily removed without the use of special tools and cleaned in the dishwasher.

The work was carried out under Weatherite's partnership deal with one of Europe's leading manufacturers of kitchen ventilation systems, De Kobra, who are based in Opwijk, near Brussels.

Mike Turton, sales director, Weatherite, comments: "Although we have worked on projects for the Ministry of Defence before, this was the first time we had installed this type of ventilated ceiling system.

"We were pleased to be able to provide them with a product that not only met their needs but also fully complied with the strict requirements set out by the Defence Estates Design and Maintenance Guide".
