Panel Systems supplies roof insulation for offices

A Panel Systems product story

Styroclad insulation supplied by Panel Systems, has helped new office buildings in Hampshire to meet BREEAM requirements.

The buildings on Farnborough Business Park are part of Project Duo, which involves a development of four, 4 storey commercial buildings.

Styroclad was used to insulate the parapet on the flat roofs as where there is an inadequate thermal break between the building and the parapet.

The upstand itself can act as a cold sink, drawing heat from the building.

Styroclad addresses this problem by insulating the parapet, reducing its ability to draw heat from the building, alleviating cold bridging and improving the thermal performance of the building.

Styroclad is made up of high performance Styrofoam insulation, which is factory bonded to a 6mm thickness of fibre cement board.

This board is designed to withstand extreme climatic and site conditions, as well as offering impact resistant.

It also has a smooth grey surface, which requires no additional finishing on site.

Styroclad was chosen for this project as it is available in a large sheet size, having a standard size of 2,400mm x 1,200mm.

Within the Styroclad range, Styroclad A was selected for this project as it uses recycled CO2 as the blowing agent for applications which require an enhanced BREEAM rating.

Styroclad A has an Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) of zero and Global Warming Potential (GWP) of one, making it suitable for projects that require a reduced carbon footprint.

The are two other options within the Styroclad range; Styroclad for standard semi-exposed soffit applications, and Styroclad Plus which uses phenolic foam insulation to further enhance fire resistance.
