Cedar Panel System supplied for city centre living

A Panel Systems product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Mar 8, 2010

Panel Systems has supplied Western Red Cedar panels for Waterman's Place, a city centre apartment block located on the regenerated Granary Wharf area of Leeds city centre.

Panel Systems developed a bespoke Cedar panel which met the architect's requirement for the use of sustainable natural materials, but that could withstand the wind loadings on the exposed elements of the upper floors of the building.

It was also important that a panel was developed that could fit effectively with the glazing system and create a robust weathertight seal.

The bespoke panels were manufactured off-site in Panel System's production facility in Sheffield, then delivered to site on call-off.

Environmentally-friendly, attractive and durable, Cedar clad panels are suitable for most building projects requiring high thermal performance and naturally appealing aesthetics.

Cedar has a high impermeability to water and an good strength-to-weight ratio.

Its natural resistance to the elements ensures minimum maintenance requirements.

Panel Systems has the ability to manufacture panels from a wide range of alternative facing materials, such as aluminium, steel, larch and oak.

The company also supplies insulated panels to meet the thermal performance requirements of a building.
