Oracle11i human resources and finance modules
Leading infrastructure, building and business services company, Carillion has successfully implemented a suite of Oracle11i human resources and finance modules.
Leading infrastructure, building and business services company, Carillion has successfully implemented a suite of Oracle11i human resources and finance modules for use by its 2,000 strong line management team, and internal HR/ finance/commercial specialist teams.
The company employs over 40,000 staff in the UK and overseas.
In the UK, employees are based in offices and contracts across the country in support of work in national and local government, health, transport, defence and commercial building.
Delivering a major programme of business process re-engineering involved the outsourcing of many HR/finance processes.
Learn-it was selected as the training partner to deliver the Oracle 11i educational programmes to Carillion staff ready for the go-live.
Ten mobile classrooms (PC Coaches/PC Pods) supplied by PC Coaching were used to complement Carillion's internal training facilities.
Solution Following awareness presentations to staff prior to the training programme, the Oracle 11i implementation was structured as a 'big-bang' approach - Carillion sites/teams simultaneously went live with Oracle systems on the same day.
Learn-it's role was to deliver a suite of Oracle training modules (two day line manager course for all staff, HR/finance/commercial specialist modules) over nine weeks.
This featured preparing a 17 strong team of trainers/team leaders, and the need for 10 mobile classrooms (PC Coaches/PC Pods) supporting Carillion's internal training facilities.
The training team was recruited and prepared in just one month.
Trainers underwent an intensive two-week familiarisation programme before the training delivery phase.
Around 15 training events took place every day in 22 locations across 15 different geographic sites, with the mobile training rooms moving from site-to-site.
Access to the Carillion IT network and Oracle applications was available at all training sites.
Responsible for delivering the Oracle system elements, often Learn-it trainers were supported by Carillion business representatives.
This provided highly effective business positioning and covered delegates' business-specific questions.
Result Dean Smith who heads up the Carillion Academy, the organisation's learning and development team, commented: "The Oracle training roll-out campaign was a complete success from the Carillion management perspective and that of the delegates who participated.
With so many staff in so many different locations, logistically, it was a complex training project.
Learn-it and PC Coaching ensured we were able to deliver these crucial Oracle training events to our staff UK-wide - to plan and budget.
"This was our first opportunity to use this method of mobile training delivery to our staff.
It proved the ideal solution to reach them and enhance their skills.
It was considered most successful by everyone involved within Carillion.".
