New anti-scald thermostatic mixing valves
Pegler has launched a new range of anti-scald thermostatic mixing valves designed to deliver safe hot water at home and in the community.
Doncaster based Pegler has launched a new range of anti-scald Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMV's), designed to deliver safe hot water at home and in the community.
Pegler is a long established company in the manufacture and sale of quality fluid control valves, with over 100 years of experience behind them.
During the last decade, greater emphasis has been placed on the safe control of hot water temperatures in the bathroom and Pegler has responded accordingly.
The experience gained by Pegler in meeting D08 requirements and TMV3 Scheme Certified anti scald products for the NHS and Care Homes has been invaluable in the development of the new range.
The development of a new range of valves for the domestic and wider community originated from the success of these earlier products.
Thermostatic mixing valves (TMV's) operate by mixing hot and cold water inlet temperatures and then delivering a safe, controlled supply of hot water to the outlet being supplied.
The new Peglertherm 404 TMV range is T shape in design; and must be installed close to the outlet it is supplying.
The 404 range of TMV's are delivered factory set at 43C but must be adjusted during commissioning to a recommended safe hot water temperature to prevent scalding.
Temperatures for each outlet are typically 38C for bidets, 41C for showers and wash basins and 44C for bath fill.
Some consideration has been given to a setting of a higher bath fill temperature, which would allow temperatures of up to 46C for bath top up, but this temperature must not be exceeded.
Temperatures of 44/46C are still extremely high for young children and the older generation.
It is imperative that these valves are set at the safety and comfort levels for all those using the bathroom in the property.
The priority for the temperature selection must always be based on the most vulnerable.
The skin of the young and elderly is thinner, and reacts to high hot water temperatures more quickly and with more serious consequences.
Peglertherm valves are available for two pipe sizes, 15mm and 22mm in the two options of 404 and 404UA.
The 404 TMV's have union type inlets and the 404UA have 90 angle valves with additional servicing features.
The Peglertherm 404 TMV's are compact in style and have union type inlets providing better access for servicing and maintenance.
Removable and replaceable check valves are sited in the valve body to prevent cross contamination of hot and cold water supplies.
These check valves allow inspection and cleaning to take place during the scheduled annual servicing.
Local water quality may dictate that this servicing needs to be carried out more frequently.
All component materials meet the requirements of the Water Regulations and this is supported by the valves having received WRAS Approval.
This approval has also enabled Pegler to gain certification to the Buildcert TMV2 scheme.
The Buildcert TMV2 scheme involves keeping a record of all approved valves and submitting the valves for audit during the 5 year licence period.
This process allows the valves to be tested to the relevant EN1111 and EN1287 standards for high and low presssure applications.
By choosing the Peglertherm 404 thermostatic mixing valves, specifiers and users alike can be confident that these valves will perform accurately for their intended application.
With the consideration that must be given to reducing water wastage and need for continual awareness on the issues surrounding maintenance, the range includes two valves with angle unions.
The angle valves not only provide additional features for the local isolation of the TMV, but also have flexibility in the unions, which provide 360 rotation for easier pipe connections.
These angle valves have removable filters that are designed to catch system debris and test points for the measurement of supply pressures and temperatures.
These enhanced features are ideal for reducing on site servicing times and give assistance for the commissioning process for the installer.
Pegler has shown its commitment to quality and value for money products throughout its long history.
The introduction of this latest range of Peglertherm 404 Thermostatic Mixing Valves reaffirms its policy for innovation, design awareness and new product development for the plumbing and heating sector.
