Perfect floor finishes for aviation project

Peter Evans Flooring were commissioned to provide a selection of floor finishes, which proved perfect for Defence Aviation Repair Agency (DARA) new multi-million pound, purpose-built facility.

The Defence Aviation Repair Agency (DARA) required a variety of floorcoverings which would fulfil the demanding performance criteria within their new multi-million pound, purpose-built facility in St Athan, Vale of Glamorgan.

One of the country's leading specialist flooring contractors, Peter Evans Flooring of Barry, South Glamorgan, were commissioned to provide a selection of floor finishes, which proved perfect for the job.

DARA's superb new site will provide facilities for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of aircraft.

Renowned for providing high quality flooring installations to a wide range of commercial environments, Peter Evans Flooring specified floor finishes which would be suitable for the various locations within the building, including support buildings, administration department and aircraft hangars.

For surfaces which would be exposed to oils and greases, 3000m2 of Freudenberg Mega Xi 2mm thick rubber floor covering was utilised, in conjunction with synthetic rubber colour coded skirting.

The three coloured blue, beige and grey granular design ensures that any trails of oils and greases are discreet, and as Freudenberg's Mega Xi is hard wearing, easy to clean and benefits from antistatic properties, it was perfect for the environment.

Polyflor SD (Static Dissipative) 2mm heavy contract flexible vinyl sheet and tile flooring in silver grey was installed in areas where it was vital to control static electricity.

Fixed with an anti-static adhesive, Polyflor SD is a hard wearing homogeneous ESD (electro static dissipative) floorcovering, and is particularly suitable for use in a range of locations including electronics, healthcare and pharmaceuticals.

To complete the project, Brimscombe loop pile carpet tiles in Mallow, from Warlord Carpets Trilogy Collection provided a hard wearing, cost effective floorcovering for the 6100m2 administration and reception areas.
