Perfect floors for new Institute of Life Science

Peter Evans Flooring installed the ideal floorcoverings for the new GBP12.5 million six-storey building which will house the new Institute of Life Science at Swansea University.

Peter Evans Flooring of Barry, Mid Glamorgan, one of the UK's leading specialist flooring contractors, were pleased to install the ideal floorcoverings for the new GBP12.5 million six-storey building which will house the new Institute of Life Science (ILS) at Swansea University.

Partly funded through the Welsh Assembly Government, the ILS will 'take to market' the results of innovative research focused on discovering radical ways to treat disease and deliver health care.

The Institute will house state-of-the-art research laboratories researching areas such as cancer, obesity and diabetes, infections and neuropsychiatry.

The new building required high performance 'fit out' solutions that would include easily maintained, durable and cost efficient floorcoverings.

Peter Evans Flooring boast an impressive portfolio of successful installations throughout the healthcare sector and for this prestigious project, were delighted to work in conjunction with the main contractor, Willmott Dixon Turner of Cardiff to install 5000m2 of floorcoverings within the new building.

The brief dictated the need for cost effective floorcoverings that would prove ideal for use within the demanding healthcare environment.

Peter Evans Flooring specified 3000m2 of Forbo's Marmoleum as it has been developed to offer outstanding hygienic qualities, and is a wonderful, flexible and natural product with limitless design potential and an extensive colour palette.

Marmoleum's colourful designs create a welcoming ambience without the intimidating feeling that is sometimes associated with hospital design.

In addition, 2000m2 of carpet tiles were installed throughout the administration areas of the building.
