Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Mar 19, 2010

Philips announces its lead sponsorship of Cancer Research UK's Shine Manchester 2010, a night-time walking marathon.

More than 7,000 men and women will take part in the event by walking either a half (13 miles) or a full (26 miles) marathon through Manchester raising money to help fund Cancer Research UK's work.

Philips will be lighting some of Manchester's iconic landmarks with its leading LED technology to inspire the walkers.

To help promote the event, Philips will be donating GBP1 to Cancer Research UK from sales of selected well-being products purchased on Amazon.

Philips encourages a healthier lifestyle with many of its consumer facing products such as its juicer range.

Shine Manchester takes place on the night of 17 April 2010.
