Pineapple Developments rural business solutions

A Pineapple Developments product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Nov 11, 2005

Pineapple Developments specialise in delivering rural business solutions by putting assets to more profitable use.

When the decision was finally made to discontinue milking dairy cattle on a family run farm in Northrepps, near Cromer, Norfolk and to contract out the land for arable, the redundant farm buildings could have been left to disintegrate, as you see so many when you travel around the country.

However, the Gurney family wanted to identify a viable proposition that would guarantee long-term sustainability and generate on-going revenue.

Whilst researching the options available and seeking expertise for help and advice, an opportune meeting with Pineapple Developments is now helping to make their vision to regenerate the farm business and create a thriving community of small and medium sized companies, to be known as North Norfolk Business Centre, a reality.

Said Michael Gurney: "Once we had made the major decision to sell the cows and diversify the business it was invaluable being able to work with a firm like Pineapple Developments who could provide us with honest and practical advice based on having also made the life changing decision to diversify their dairy farm.

Appointing Pineapple Developments to oversee and manage the total conversion of the farm buildings into the North Norfolk Business Centre has not only bought focus and drive to the project but is also providing first-hand experience and knowledge of what needs to be done and how to make it happen".

The project to create North Norfolk Business Centre is now in full operation.

Funds have been secured, plans have been approved and contractors appointed.

The original site of a mixture of modern steel framed, of 60's, 70's and 80's construction, and traditional brick and flint farm buildings is currently being transformed into a variety of purpose built offices and industrial units for the local community.

The work is being undertaken in three phases:.

Phase 1 will see the modern steel and concrete framed buildings converted into storage and industrial units.

Phase 2 will be the refurbishment of the historic barn and cowshed into purpose built offices currently being designed by a reputable Norfolk architect.

Phase 3 will be the rebuild of the grain bins and drier into a large workshop building.

The first phase will be completed by the end of November 2005 and potential tenants are currently being identified ready for letting early next year.

Pineapple Developments is responsible for the whole project from the design and obtaining the funding of the scheme to the delivery of the completed buildings ready for letting.

The official launch of the site took take place at the Centre on Friday 28 October when Norman Lamb MP planted a tree at the entrance.
