The Pineapple Group, based at Pineapple Business Park, Bridport, introduce Pineapple Rural a new division of the company that will focus on helping rural businesses exploit the opportunities and grow in the ever changing rural economy.

The rural economy is experiencing change at a pace never seen before.

The uncertainties of the Common Agricultural Policy and the Mid Term Review, a government attitude that challenges the traditional understanding of rural issues, the effects of political policies and decisions taken far away from the grass roots, are all putting pressure on rural organisations to change and stay dynamic.

The process of change is far from easy and implementing it successfully makes considerable demands on all involved particularly as it often means the need for additional skills that take individuals out of their comfort zone.

Since the formation of Pineapple Developments in 2000 to convert the family farm into the now successful Pineapple Business Park, the management team's aim has been to help others generate opportunities that are positive and that support the very fabric of rural life.

The conversion strategy of Pineapple Farm from a dairy unit into a rural business park was carefully structured.

However the plan was suitably dynamic to be adjusted in the light of experience - very much "learning by doing".
