Pick Everard is working with Wessex Water to upgrade security at its sites in line with tougher new Government requirements.

Engineering and architectural practice Pick Everard is working with Wessex Water to upgrade security at its sites in line with tougher new Government requirements.

Pick Everard's expert engineers will carry out full inspections at each site and then detail requirements for construction and installation purposes.

Work will be completed by an appointed contractor.

Pick Everard can call on a wealth of experience and expertise in this field to ensure it offers a comprehensive and efficient service.

The upgrade work will involve the installation of a range of improvements to ensure that all existing security measures meet new Government standards.

Rod Burton, partner at Pick Everard commented: "From what we've seen, Wessex Water takes security very seriously and has worked closely with Government agencies in the past to ensure it maintains a high level of protection at its assets and sites".

"In recent months, the Government has raised the standards and formally detailed even higher levels of security for important assets such as these".

"This project's aim is to ensure Wessex Water's facilities meet the new standards".

"Pick Everard has many years' experience in the Midlands on similar projects for Severn Trent Water where over 300 sites have been upgraded over the past eight years".

"Our team can use all of this experience to ensure each of Wessex Water's sites receives the optimum security measures".

Wessex Water is the regional water and sewage treatment business serving an area of the south west of England covering 10,000 square kilometres including Dorset, Somerset, Bristol, most of Wiltshire and parts of Gloucestershire and Hampshire.

It treats and supplies drinking water to 1.2 million people and provides sewerage services to about 2.5 million.

YTL Power International of Kuala Lumpur acquired Wessex Water in May 2002.
