Pick Everard are designing a new cutting-edge racing and conference facility at Wetherby Racecourse and Conference Centre in Yorkshire

Architects at leading practice Pick Everard are designing a new cutting-edge racing and conference facility at Wetherby Racecourse and Conference Centre in Yorkshire, renowned for its top-class Jump Racing It is anticipated that construction work will start on site in January 2007 with completion by September the same year, ready for the 2007/2008 Jump Season

Pick Everard's designs have allowed for the existing timber trussed grandstand to be retained and incorporated into the new facility.

With 720m2 gross floor area, the new Bramham Hall facility will be a single storey building but fully glazed to give fantastic views onto the Parade Ring.

New facilities will cater for up to 250 guests attending large events such as weddings and conferences.

Richard Cooper, architect at Pick Everard explains, "Having designed facilities closer to home at Leicester Racecourse, we are delighted to have won this latest commission at Wetherby".

"Incorporating the timber frame is challenging because we will need to take into account the adjacent risings, (terraced stand), under which will be provided much needed storage and cellarage for bar facilities".

"Facilities will provide a clear, light, airy and uncluttered open span of 16m, creating a dynamic juxtaposition between the old and new".

"There will be direct access from under the stand into the new facility allowing race goers to stay dry during the extremes of the Yorkshire winter!".
