Multiple awards to Pick Everard for Stephenson College and Keele University buildings.

Innovative architectural practice Pick Everard landed a clutch of awards in 2006 for its educational and health care design In March Pick Everard received the Leicestershire and Rutland Society of Architects Presidents Award for design work on the state of the art Stephenson College building in Coalville, Leicestershire completed in 2005

On November 6th the company won a commendation in the Ibstock EM Design Excellence Awards for the same building.

While it was under construction College Principal Dr David Rathe said 'the new college will offer education and learning to everyone in a modern, comfortable and welcoming environment'.

On November 8th the Stephenson College building earned Pick Everard a second place and 'special merit' mention in the prestigious national RIBA/Learning and Skills Council Further Education Awards.

The jury was particularly impressed by 'the fact that the design of the new building had been developed with a fundamental transformation of the college's organisation and management, and by the way pupils and staff had been included in the process of change.

The simplicity of the plan lends itself to extension...' and the building is now being extended, in the same style, to house further facilities.

Then on 20th November Pick Everard architect partner John Tiernan won the North Staffordshire Citizen of the Year Charity Award in Architectural Design for the Medical School and Primary Care Sciences Research Centre at Keele University.

The three part building houses an undergraduate Medical School at one end and a Primary Care Sciences Research Centre at the other, linked by a central atrium and lecture theatre.

Completed in 2004, it is used to train 220 medical students at a time.

The judges commented, 'Good design of buildings and public space make a huge contribution to our environment in terms of where we live and work.

On occasions a building, a public square or a piece of sculpture can be truly inspiring and raise hopes and aspirations of those who have contact with it.

The Primary Care Centre at Keele is a vital part of the establishment of a medical school in North Staffordshire.

It is a landmark building, impressive in its own right, being visible from many parts of Newcastle.' Pick Everard is one of the leading, independent and multi-disciplinary architectural and engineering partnerships in the UK, with wide experience of designing and developing buildings in the educational and health care sectors, as well as in industry, defence, central and local government, leisure and retail.
