New Sigma range of machine room-less lifts
Pickerings Lifts has launched the Sigma range of goods/passenger and passenger lifts, incorporating the latest in machine room-less technology.
In response to market demand and building on its long-standing reputation for innovative design, Pickerings Lifts (Pickerings) has launched the Sigma range of goods/passenger and passenger lifts, incorporating the latest in machine room-less technology.
The Sigma is suitable for both new and replacement lift applications and offers the market greater choice, especially in the important area of heavier payload goods lifts.
"Today there is increasing pressure in many businesses, from retail to office developments to hospitals to utilise every bit of space available," believes Pickerings' marketing manager, Simon Mitchell.
"Incorporating the lifting gear and control system within the lift envelope and taking away the need for a separate machine room - which can be up to half the size of the lift area itself - the Sigma solution substantially reduces the amount of space required," he continues.
"Pickerings has taken machine room-less technology to a new level, providing unrivalled space utilisation for goods or passenger lifts." Broad product range.
Offering unmatched robustness and build quality, the Sigma range includes a wider range of car sizes than is generally available and can include heavy duty powered or shuttered doors.
Sigma lifts are also designed with ease of maintenance in mind: as customers are not tied to the OEM with certain key components, for example, customers may want to select their own controllers.
The Sigma launch follows extensive customer research and incorporates leading-edge drive machine technology.
"Many goods lifts are in constant use and require a heavy duty, robust solution," says engineering services manager, Nick Mellor, who was responsible for developing the new lift range.
"With Sigma we have adopted compact gearless machinery, which provides a uniquely reliable solution," he adds.
"It combines low noise levels and good ride quality with minimum maintenance, making it equally applicable to goods, passenger and hospital bed passenger lifts".
At the same time, the design also takes account of space constraints and leads the field in its ability to fit shafts with restricted pit depth or headroom.
Reduced energy usage.
"Environmental concerns also play an increasingly critical role in modern lift design," confirms Mellor.
"In response, we have developed the new range to offer leading edge efficiency and energy usage.
At the same time, and in line with our ability to provide tailored solutions, we can work with individual customers to further reduce energy usage in their particular applications." There is also growing market pressure to minimise operational interruption.
In response, Pickerings Lifts' products are designed with installation time in mind.
For example lifts can incorporate a modular design which enables installation times to be cut dramatically from several weeks to just a few days and, on request, Sigma customers will also be able to benefit from a similar configuration.
To help customers understand the benefits of the new design, Pickerings has built a complete Sigma demonstration facility at its Stockton-on-Tees manufacturing plant.
"The Sigma range has prompted a lot of interest from companies across a wide range of sectors," says Mitchell, "and we have seen a very positive reaction.
Architects no longer have the problem of where to site a machine room and users can make more profitable use of the space available.
"Put simply, where space is at a premium and the application demands a robust, environmentally friendly, reliable lift, exceptional ride quality and shortened installation time, the Sigma provides an ideal solution," he concludes.
