The extensive grounds are fully accessible and include a heated swimming pool with hoist.
In addition to complying the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act, in line with the charity's broader accessibility policy the refurbished lift will incorporate special features such as an additional control panel and larger buttons.
Following a rigorous best value assessment, Pickerings had previously won the contract to provide full service and maintenance support for all Leonard Cheshire Disability's facilities nationwide.
"We have selected Pickerings Lifts for our new lift and refurbishment projects because of its sensitivity and willingness to meet our particular demands," confirms Roy Fairbairn, building services engineer.
"At the same time, Pickerings had already proved easy to work with and it made sound commercial and operational sense to have a single point of contact for all our lift requirements." Other lift projects currently in development with Leonard Cheshire disability include a replacement public access lift adapted to fit the existing shaft at The Grove residential home in nearby Kings Lynn.
