Pilkington's Tiles wins 'Best Use of a Tile in a Housing Development' Award for the creative use of its recently launched 'Regal' fully vitrified granite porcelain tile range,.

Pilkingtons, the market leading ceramic, vitrified and terrazzo tile manufacturing group has just announced that it has won a tile industry (TTA) award for the creative use of its recently launched 'Regal' fully vitrified granite porcelain tile range,.

The award category was for the 'Best Use of a Tile in a Housing Development" and Pilkington's fought off stiff competition from other tile suppliers to collect the coveted award.

The product range and its creative application at a landmark apartment development called Centro on Broad Street in Northampton from leading housebuilder KingsOak Milton Keynes, appealed to the judges because of the perfect amalgamation of its attractive design and commercially beneficial advantages.

The Regal range was launched by Pilkington's in late 2006 and almost instantly it was found to be a runaway success across all key market sectors.

Specifiers were quick to learn that the range offered outstanding opportunities to provide an extremely high quality, highly sought after solution, emulating premium quality Italian style and design influence at extremely competitive and affordable prices.

The product has been brought to market owing to Pilkington's unique and exclusive manufacturing partnerships with one of the world's leading authorities in porcelain design and manufacture.

The powerful combination of Pilkington's ability to foresee market and design trends, and to meet those trends through its global network of key supply partners cannot be underestimated.

The group has fashioned several solid and robust global manufacturing partnerships with specialists in their field, covering a wide range of materials.

The Regal range is exceptional because it offers specifiers and project designers the opportunity to create edge to edge and wall to floor solutions, combining surface effects to create a homogenous scheme, mellow on the eye, and the perfect canvas for modern and contemporary living.

The range is available in a range of sizes, from traditional 300mm x 300mm size to the very progressive 600mm x 300mm and 600mm x 600mm sizes, in a range of 5 colours and three finishes, rock, polished and honed.

It is the 600 x 300 polished applications in Light Grey, used on both wall and floor surfaces at Centro, that caught the eye of the judges.

They particularly celebrated the use of the tiles throughout the open plan living, hall way and kitchen areas.

The MC of the awards summed up the judges opinion on the night, and their reasons for choosing Regal as the winner, "The Regal Porcelain tiles used at Centro is a great example of continental living and are perfect for minimalist schemes.

Using the large format tiles throughout added to the sense of space and harmony and the polished marble effect of the tiles added to the sense of pure luxury, reflecting natural light from the large windows and adding luminosity to the whole apartment".

2006 saw a great many new product introductions to the Pilkington's group portfolio.

Another of their new products won the TTA "Floor Tile of the Year".

Dorset Woolliscroft Luna range, was singled out for acclaim for its fully vitrified versatility and British made quality- a triumphant night for the group!.
