Pilkington is the key at Bauhaus
Pilkington Suncool provides low emissivity for high thermal insulation as well as reducing solar heat gain at Bauhaus development on Quay Street in Manchester.
The green tint within the glass and the metallic coat combine to provide effective glare reduction on even the brightest of days, whilst still allowing daylight to flood into the offices when it is not so sunny.
These benefits gave Paul Monaghan Architects the freedom to incorporate large areas of glazing in the building design.
Over 600m2 of Pilkington Suncool was specified, offering unrivalled levels of daylight - and reducing Quinn Direct's year-round heating and air conditioning costs in the process.
The project needed the skill of Northern Ireland's leading glass unit manufacturer.
Glas-Seal (NI) is one of only a number of glass processors in the UK and Ireland capable of producing Pilkington Suncool High Performance glass units.
This is because the metallic coating on the glass can be damaged before it is assembled into a sealed unit.
Glas-Seal used its automated edge-deletion and sealing equipment to guarantee the perfect results demanded by installer Douglas Architectural Systems.
The client has been suitably impressed with the performance and quality of the glazing: Glas-Seal has been given the green light to supply Pilkington Suncool HP Emerald for a second Quinn group office on the same site.
