Pilkington has been recognised by the Construction Products Association for its innovative energy efficient IGU, Pilkington energiKare, in Construction Products Innovation and Achievement (CPIA) 2007.

The CPIA is the annual showcase of the most innovative products and processes from the construction products industry Commenting on the achievement, Simon Storer, External Affairs Director, for the Construction Products Association said: "Once again the construction products industry has shown an enormous desire to introduce a variety of new and exciting developments

Our publication showcases the industry's effort in developing innovative products and processes which make a significant impact on all aspects of construction.

"Pilkington energiKare is one of six products recognised in the Energy and Carbon Saving category, highlighting the importance of the product for the construction industry".

David Pinder, Managing Director, Pilkington Building Products UK, added: "We are pleased that Pilkington energiKare is recognised in this year's CPIA.

Our new IGU brings enormous benefits to the construction industry because it comes as a fully integrated unit which can easy achieve a window energy rating of C or above.

The specification of Pilkington energiKare is a simple and cost effective step to help prevent energy loss in homes and therefore minimise CO2 emissions.

It is very important that our industry recognises and showcases innovation and we are grateful that CPIA 2007 has commended us in this way".

Pilkington energiKare can consist of either Pilkington K Glass and Pilkington Optiwhite filled with argon gas, or an air fill and a warm edge spacer.

The IGU is particularly convenient for installers because it can be fabricated in just two ways, helping window fabricators and installers achieve the inspirational band C rating, hassle free.

Pilkington energiKare is available via the Pilkington processor network and also from IGU processor partners who are eligible to carry exactly the same branding.

In addition, partner window companies will be able to leverage the Pilkington energiKare brand in their own promotions.

A television advertising campaign for the energy saving IGU will be shown across the country from February 18th 2008.

The products featured in the publication cover a wide range of sectors and include processes designed to save energy and reduce emissions, provide health and safety guidance for employees and contractors, and provide a full sustainability appraisal of manufacturing operations.
