Compact Dimmer Racks For 'Smart Home' Lighting

A Polaron Controls product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jul 9, 2003

A new range of advanced lighting control units has been launched by Polaron Controls.

Aimed at homes as well as bars, restaurants, smaller shops and offices, Lightlink Compact dimmer racks can be directly integrated to offer seamless control with other home automation systems such as multi-room audio, home cinema and security systems.

They make use of the latest IGBT (insulated gate bipolar transistor) technology, which removes the need for noisy chokes and provides dynamic short circuit, overload and thermal protection.

Soft starting stops the nuisance of miniature circuit breakers tripping caused by initial current surges.

Housing four or eight channels, the racks can control incandescent/LV and mains voltage halogen lights as well as providing 1-10V output for controlling HFR fluorescent dimmable ballasts.

DALI and DSI options are also available.

An alarm input is included, which can be set to turn all the lights to full when a fire or security alarm is activated and return to the previous level when deactivated.

"As a leading player in the lighting control market, we continue to show sustainable growth through the use of innovative technology," stated Polaron's chief executive Joe Stelzer.

Designed and manufactured in the UK, Polaron lighting controls include a full range of control devices with standard and custom finishes, including infrared control plates, LCD touch screens and touch plates.

For the home install market, they are available in the UK through distributors Marata Vision of Watford.
