Maths To The Power 9
Unmatched power for a PC based maths package, yet an even friendlier user interface: the latest version of Maple looks set to be enthusiastically received.
Such is the promise of the DocuPen hand held full-page scanner from Planon System Solutions.
The DocuPen is the size of a pen and, weighing less than two ounces, has been named the World's lightest scanner by the Guinness Book of Records 2005.
It is the first handheld scanner to scan an entire A4 page of text and graphics making it ideal for use on construction sites, client's offices or even in a car.
The document can be scanned in just four seconds, and downloaded directly onto a PC, notebook or printer when the you get back to the office.
The DocuPen holds up to 100 pages in its memory and remains perpetually charged by recharging its batteries every time the scanner is connected to a computer's USB port for downloading documents.
Not only can the DocuPen have the ability to scan A4 size pages but it is also possible to copy an entire drawing by scanning strips of 203.2 mm x 914.4 mm in turn and merging them in software afterwards.
Planon System Solutions President, Doug Verkaik, explained: "The DocuPen has many different applications but it is particularly useful for architects, interior designers and builders where users are frequently on site or travelling but often need to copy documents".
" How often do people promise to put some plans or forms in the post and then forget to do so? This way, you just take your own copy there and then and the job is done." The DocuPen R700 also includes ScanSoft's PaperPort software enabling users to manage scanned documents and use them in other programs such as Outlook Express, WinFax, Notepad, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
Users can also make changes to their scanned documents with editing tools that allow them to crop and rotate images, add annotations, highlight text and draw with a freehand tool.
The DocuPen R700 retails for £149.99 (including VAT) and is available online from www.planon.com.
