Planit Fusion design flexibility for Rydon

Rydon Construction is realising significant savings in time and costs since installing Planit Fusion from Planit International.

The company has been using the advanced design and visualisation software for many of its refurbishment projects, following the signing of a contract with Symphony Kitchens, which has enjoyed a strong business partnership with Planit for the past 20 years.

The work that Rydon carries out for social housing organisations includes the installation of new kitchens in existing properties.

Previously, Symphony sent a surveyor at the first stage in planning a kitchen design.

However, because of the nature of the work and the need to involve the residents in the process, drawings invariably need to be changed to suit individual residents' tastes and requirements.

'It was quite a lengthy process going through Symphony's surveyors,' explains Rydon site agent Alan Shadbolt.

We had to book another visit each time a design change was requested and wait for that to be carried out before we could move the project on.

'Having the Planit Fusion software at our fingertips enables us to design a basic layout and make a presentation to residents in plan and perspective views and take their comments on board.

They might, for example, want to reposition units.

We can then revise the drawing and present an updated version for their approval in a fraction of the time it took before.

With that secured, the bill of materials can be generated within Fusion and an order placed for all the components required.

Symphony then supplies the complete package to build the kitchen'.

An added benefit with Fusion is the ability to incorporate photorealistic 3D images of existing kitchen appliances into the design, helping the residents to quickly see a true representation of the finished layout.

The service and support provided by Planit has also been a big plus in the implementation of Fusion.

'The support we have received has been excellent from day one,' says Shadbolt.

'An intuitive user friendly package backed by a prompt and reliable service is vital when you are finding your way around a new system and don't want to lose too much of the time you should be spending in front of the customer in our case, the residents'.
