Platz Haus to launch its range of timber frame homes at the National Homebuilding and Renovating Show 2006

First appearance in the UK for German manufacturer Platz Haus, a German company specialising in the manufacture of quality, individually designed timber-framed homes, is using the National Homebuilding and Renovating show to launch its range of architect-designed homes in the UK.

Platz Haus UK can be visited on Stand 253, Hall 20 (NEC, 2 - 5 March) where Helmut Gross, Business Manager for the UK and Albert Drescher, Managing Director of German manufacturing company Carl Platz , will be available to explain the concept behind the homes and answer questions.

There is a growing interest in off-site construction techniques, driven by TV programmes such as 'Grand Designs', and Platz Haus UK intends to capitalise on this to establish a presence in the UK market.

Targeting both the self-build and small developer market, Platz homes are very different from the 'timber frame' houses previously available.

The only manufacturer able to combine 'post and beam' and 'wood panel' construction techniques, Platz offers a wider choice of basic designs.

When this is combined with flexible interior floorplans, a Platz home gives buyers and their architects/interior designers the opportunity to create highly individual 'dream homes'.

The initial range will include home styles designed to appeal to the British market, where chalet style 'wood and glass' homes are less popular than on the continent.

For the UK launch, styles will include the First Class, an elegant design with a classic stucco facade, the Design energy saving house and the Allegro, a starter home offered in five house sizes with a range of options.

For homebuyers who favour a more European look, the traditional Komfort wood and glass home will also be available.

All homes are manufactured off-site to very precise tolerances under ideal factory conditions.

Once complete, individual homes are delivered to site where a team of Platz master carpenters complete assembly.

Rapid construction techniques ensure that a Platz home is watertight and secure in just 3 days, with roof, windows and entrance door.

In a complete turnkey operation, technical installation and interior decoration are usually completed within 10-12 weeks.

Constructed to the highest quality standards, all Platz homes feature excellent insulation and sound proofing.

26cm thermally insulated walls ensure excellent heat transmission values, while floating screed floors guarantee low levels of sound transmission.

Timber is sourced from regional, sustainable forests local to the Platz factory in Southern Germany.
