I/O modules offer solution for analog signals

A Phoenix Contact product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jun 20, 2007

Compact Inline Block I/O modules from Phoenix Contact are used wherever limited number of I/O signals need to be cost-effectively collected and transmitted to a control system.

This line of products now offers an attractive solution for analog signals: the ILB IB AI4 AO2 and ILB PB AI4 AO2 components for Interbus and Profibus, each with four analog inputs and two analog outputs.

These multifunctional modules can be used for any application.

The four inputs offer either the difference measured between analog current and voltage signals, or the option of connecting resistance thermometers (RTD).

Additionally, current or voltage actuators can be connected to the two outputs.

The inputs are galvanically isolated and equipped with adjustable filter times to avoid interference from equalizing currents.

The current inputs in these devices are protected against overload and the integrated sensor power supply offers short-circuit protection.

The optional RTD inputs can be connected in three- or four-wire technology to minimize or eliminate conductor resistances during temperature measurement.

The analog outputs support bipolar signals of more than 20 mA.

The adjustable output behavior safeguards the machine or system in the event of a bus reset.

All channels also come standard-equipped with shield connections.

This directly increases immunity to EMC interference in the system.
