Eye-catching inlaid "starburst" designs and complementary borders have been used to brighten corridor floors in a major refurbishment project at Shotley Bridge Hospital, for the County Durham and Darlington Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.
The hospital selected tonal shades from low maintenance heavy duty sheet vinyl flooring Polyflor Classic Mystique PUR - from commercial flooring specialists and Architects for Health think tank sponsors Polyflor - for the project.
And the starburst insets were created via Polyflor's Expressions Design Service, which uses computerised water jet cutting techniques to produce precise shapes and styles for inlaid decoration.
Polyflor Classic Mystique PUR, available in eight attractive non-directionally patterned shades, features a specially formulated polyurethane surface treatment which reduces maintenance costs by up to 48% by improving the soil resistance and cleanability of the floor.
The floorcovering meets the general performance requirements of EN649 and, fully tested to fire safety standard EN 13501-1, is certified as Class Bfl-S1, achieving the criteria EN ISO 9239-1 >8 kw/m2 and the mandatory requirement of EN ISO 11925-2 pass.
In common with all Polyflor sheet vinyls, Polyflor Classic Mystique PUR can be welded at the seams and to coved skirtings to create continuous, impervious surfaces offering no sanctuary to dirt and bacteria.
