Sport and safety focus at new Welling School

Polytred Sport PU flexible sheet vinyl sports flooring and Polysafe Vogue Ultra sheet vinyl safety flooring has been installed at the new build Welling School in Welling

Around 2000m2 of Polytred Sport PU flexible sheet vinyl sports flooring and Polysafe Vogue Ultra sheet vinyl safety flooring - from commercial flooring specialist and Contract Flooring Association Manufacturer of the Year Polyflor - has been installed at the new build Welling School in Welling, Kent, for Skanska, main contractor and equity investor on the £36 million PFI scheme to develop two new schools for the London Borough of Bexley.

Installed by Doncaster-based flooring contractor Square Deal Carpets, Polytred Sport PU - with a variety of court markings - has been fitted in the sports hall, gym and fitness room, with Polysafe Vogue Ultra providing enhanced safety under foot in shower/changing rooms, toilets and kitchen.

Ideal for multi-purpose sports halls, gymnasia and leisure centres, Polytred Sport PU features a specially formulated polyurethane (PU) surface treatment, reducing maintenance costs by up to 24%.

Available in five bright, modern colours, Polytred Sport PU combines a 2mm vinyl top layer with a 3.5mm closed cell foam backing.

The floorcovering is fully tested to BS7044: Part 4 for rebound resilience, abrasive wear and slip resistance and to DIN 18032: Part 2 for impact resistance, ball rebound and residual impression.

Line markings can be applied to the vinyl using adhesive tape or paint.

Incorporating quartz crystals, aluminium oxide and silicon carbide particles for improved traction and safety, Polysafe Vogue Ultra offers a choice of 12 attractive colours and features enhanced flexibility for easier fitting with a surface emboss for hugely improved cleanability.

The floorcoverings meet the requirements of EN651 and EN649 respectively and, being fully tested to fire safety standard EN 13501-1, are certified as Class Bfl-S1, achieving the criteria EN ISO 9239-1 '8kw/m' and the mandatory requirement of EN ISO 11925-2 Pass.
