A new acoustic performance timber effect sheet vinyl has been teamed with a decorative low maintenance sheet vinyl safety flooring to provide impact sound reduction and underfoot safety in the servery and refectory at Warwick School The floorcoverings, Forest FX Acoustic and Polysafe Astral - both from commercial flooring specialist Polyflor - were installed by flooring contractor KAD Contract Floors, of Warwick

"The floorcoverings are proving to be an excellent replacement for the previously installed carpet," says Warwick School bursar Nigel Stock.

"They not only solve the problem of food stains but also provide a safer and quieter environment for pupils and staff".

Forest FX Acoustic is part of the recently launched Polyflor Acoustic Flooring Solutions range which also includes Gallery FX Acoustic and the company's established Acoustifoam system.

Forest FX Acoustic - comprising 10 highly popular wood effects from Polyflor's existing Forest FX range and with a 0.65mm wear layer - has been developed for use in very heavily trafficked commercial installations including schools, universities, hospitals and other heavy footfall public buildings.

The flooring provides a high impact sound reduction of 19dB, features a polyurethane surface reinforcement (PUR) for reduced maintenance and in line with Building Regulation Part E, is produced in accordance with EN ISO 140-8.

Polysafe Astral is available in 14 vibrant colours each featuring an eye-catching multi-flake decoration.

The flooring incorporates Supratec+, the second generation of Polyflor's unique soil releasing polymer system, now including polyurethane for reduced dirt pick up, even easier maintenance and life cycle cost savings of up to 60%.

As well as meeting the performance requirements of EN13845 and being BBA Agrement certified, Astral conforms to HSE guidelines, achieving a sustainable slip resistance value of 36 on the RRL Pendulum wet test (using Four S rubber) and a surface roughness of Rtm 20um.

Fully tested to fire safety standard EN13501-1, Polysafe Astral is certified as Class Bfl-S1, achieving the criteria EN ISO 9239-1 8kw/m and the mandatory requirement of EN ISO 11925-2 pass.
