Commercial flooring specialist Polyflor has launched two excitingly different new decorative ranges - Polysafe Wood FX and Polysafe Mosaic.

"This responds to a growing demand for safety floors suitable for the decorative ambience in front of house areas," says Polyflor marketing manager Simon James "The realistic and superior replication of attractive timber designs shown in Polysafe Wood FX and the strong visual appeal of non-directional Polysafe Mosaic are especially suitable for school and hospital receptions, classrooms, corridors, wards and general circulation areas - as well as being ideal for retail and commercial premises and social housing

"Both products can also, of course, be used in traditional safety areas such as bathrooms, toilets and changing rooms, making them suitable for use in virtually all areas within a commercial facility".

In common with all Polysafe ranges, both comply fully with HSE guidelines, providing sustained slip resistance throughout their guaranteed 10-year life.

Both ranges achieve 36+ on the RRL Pendulum wet test (Slider 96/Four S rubber) with a surface roughness of 20 microns and above.

The sustained slip resistance of Polysafe Wood FX is achieved by the incorporation of clear aluminium oxide throughout the 0.7mm clear wear layer, with aggregates specially formulated to ensure excellent clarity of design.

Providing a choice of eight dramatically authentic timber styles, Polysafe Wood FX is available in a sensible 2m width.

Polysafe Mosaic combines clear aluminium oxide and coloured quartz particles within the full thickness of its 0.7mm wear layer to provide enhanced, sustainable slip resistance.

The range offers a choice of nine vibrant colourways featuring a special high density flake design with pearlescent chips adding an attractive shimmer effect and increasing the visible depth of the decoration.

"The introduction of these new stylish high performance products means we have probably the most comprehensive safety floor portfolio on the market, with no fewer than nine distinct product ranges covering a complete spectrum of location requirements," says Simon James.

As well as compliance with HSE guidelines, Polysafe Wood FX and Polysafe Mosaic both meet the performance requirements of EN13845, the European Norm for safety flooring, and in terms of abrasion resistance are classed as Group T products - achieving the Use Area Classification of 23/34/43.

Fully tested to fire safety standard EN13501-1, both are certified as Class Bfl-S1, achieving the criteria EN ISO 9239-1 8kw/m and the mandatory requirement of EN ISO 11925-2 pass.

Both have been independently tested and results demonstrate that they inhibit the growth of MRSA.

An effective cleaning regime is, however, the most important defence against infection.
