Polyflor performance for Stena Terminal

A Polyflor product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jun 29, 2009

Polyflor's Expona vinyl tiles and Noppe Stud rubber tiles bring high performance to Stena Line's new Victoria Sea Terminal No 4 at the Port of Belfast.

The light and dark timber effect luxury vinyl tiles from the Expona Design collection and deep blue tiles from the company's Noppe Stud Tile range of rubber tiles give a highly contrasting style to the new floor.

Installed by Newry-based flooring contractor Floor Form, Expona luxury vinyl tiles feature in the terminal's main waiting area and baggage hall, with Noppe Stud Tile fitted on walkways and stairs in the terminal's embarkation areas.

Combining stunning designs with quality materials and proven functionality, the Expona Design collection pushes back the boundaries of creative interior design, offering a beautifully balanced choice of 26 wood, 15 stone and 15 material reproductions, incorporating a total of 12 different surface finishes, eight alternative tile and plank sizes and bevelled edge options.

With a 3mm gauge and a 0.7mm wear layer, Expona Design is suitable for very heavy commercial use and ideal for a variety of retail, leisure, corporate, education, and specific healthcare installations.

A polyurethane surface treatment aids maintenance and helps to negate traditional restrictions on freedom of design choice.

Noppe Stud Tiles have high abrasion and cigarette burn resistance, with low smoke toxicity in case of fire, making them ideal for very heavy traffic areas such as ferry terminals, shopping malls, rail and air concourses, shops and stores and education and healthcare premises.

Featuring a 28.5mm diameter low profile stud for better ergonomic performance, the range provides a balanced selection of 12 neutral and bold, bright shades in 3mm gauge, with six colours also available in 4mm gauge.

The Noppe Stud Tile meets the performance requirements of EN12199:1998 and, fully tested to fire performance standard EN13501-1, is certified as Class Cfl-S1, achieving the criteria EN ISO 9239-1 4.5kw/m and the mandatory requirement of EN ISO 11925-2 pass.
