PRP appoints Civic Trust Consultant and CABE Space Advisor to spearhead urban design standards and community consultation
PRP Architects has appointed Alexandra Rook, who previously worked as principal consultant for The Civic Trust, to the position of Landscape and Urban Design Consultant.
This newly created role requires Alexandra to report directly to Director Andy von Bradsky and work with PRP Directors to spearhead urban design standards across the practice's five offices.
Alexandra's extensive experience of working in the public, private and voluntary sectors has enabled her to broaden her work from design to regeneration and in so doing has developed extensive experience in community engagement.
PRP Director Andy von Bradsky said: "Alexandra joins a growing pool of specialist consultants we have appointed over the last few years".
"In addition to landscape and urban design experience, her community and stakeholder engagement expertise is an asset to the company".
"We have asked her to apply these skills to PRP by working with our senior Directors to pioneer and develop a comprehensive community consultation strategy for both private and social housing clients".
"Alexandra will retain her interest in the public realm and landscape design through membership of the Urban Design Group, as a Green Flag judge and as a CABE Space Advisor; assisting local authorities in developing green space strategies and stakeholder engagement programmes.
She is currently advising on the masterplan brief for the Town Park in Harlow and has run a number of workshops piloting CABE Space's Place Check Toolkit.
Prior to joining PRP, Alexandra was part of the Civic Trust's management team' her role as principal consultant involved running a number of grant funded 3-year action research programmes.
Alexandra represented the Trust on Building for Life Design Review Panels, on the Urban Design Alliance (UDAL) and the ODPM's Living Spaces £27M grant programme.
Commenting on her reasons for returning to private practice, Alexandra Rook added: "I am delighted to have the opportunity to return to practice with PRP, to see if I can make a difference and contribute to the quality of housing design and its environment".
"PRP provides the perfect platform for me to do so as its core business involves both estate regeneration and new build housing for both the public and private sector".
"I will be developing stakeholder engagement strategies and delivery for both sectors, and contributing to PRP's market research projects.".
