PRP designs first new railway station
for 50 years
PRP Architects has designed the first privately-financed, new railway station in the South of England for 50 years.
The Government gave the green light for the station last summer and, on behalf on PRUPIM, PRP has been drawing up detailed plans since then A planning application has been submitted to Reading Borough Council and trains could be stopping at the new Reading GreenPark Station by the end of 2008 if planning permission is granted this Autumn

PRP's proposal is for the construction of a highly flexible Railway Station comprising 5 train carriage length platforms with canopies above, a station concourse and pedestrian bridge across the tracks.
The bus interchange includes a decked park and ride facility, 'kiss and ride' (short stay car park), taxi drop off, disabled parking facility, access road, landscaping and associated works.
The key feature of the station is a 6m cantilevered entrance canopy.
