Pugh And Co announces a breakthrough for galvanised steel coating with Actan GS water based primer.

Speciality chemicals company Pugh and Co announces a major breakthrough for the galvanised steel and non-ferrous metals fabrication sector with Actan GS Primer - a water borne surface treatment/primer which now has BBA approval Close to Zero VOC

After many years of development and trials in the UK and mainland Europe Actan GS is proven to perform well on new and weathered galvanised steel.

It is 100 per cent water based with a VOC content of less than 0.1 per cent to ensure more than compliance with both EC Directives and US environmental legislation.

This product is safe for users and has low environmental impact.

First in Family.

Actan GS is the first launch in a family of Actan environmentally friendly, water borne surface treatment/primer products designed for ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

All have been developed by Pugh and Co and tested independently to guarantee high protection performance.

Actan GS works as an adhesion primer ensuring the adhesion of subsequent coatings on hot dip or electro galvanised steel, aluminium, copper, bronze and stainless steel.

Application can be by brush or spray.

The surface simply needs to be degreased and on older surfaces corrosion products such as 'white rust' on galvanised steel mechanically removed.

Because it is water based and does not give off harmful fumes the health and safety risk for operatives is minimal even when working in confined spaces.

Thoroughly Tested.

"Whenever Actan GS has been tested, even in the most arduous conditions such as pipework in tunnel beneath the Thames barrier and weathered galvanised columns on Scotland's Forth Road Bridge, it proved its worth by producing a hard, flexible, non porous, impact resistant film.

It gives great adhesion and can be overcoated with one and two pack protective paint systems.

We have tested with vinyls, acrylics, epoxies and polyurethanes and worked with paint systems produced by major UK and European suppliers, including registered Highways Agency formulations as top coats" remarks Roland Peemans Managing Director at Pugh and Co.
