Arada and the heat that also cools

An Arada product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Nov 6, 2008

Patented FOND'ice system combines an air conditioning heat pump with the fire to create an efficient heating and cooling system.

Wood fires are taking the market by storm in this era of high gas and oil prices.

Not only does the burning fuel look magnificent but, with wood, you are also burning a carbon neutral fuel in a fireplace with an efficiency at least as good as an average gas fire.

But isn't quite galling that for up to six months of the year, your fire sits there doing nothing - because you don't need any heat?.

Wouldn't it be great if it could also cool you on those sweltering summer days that we get in a heat wave?.

Well, now you can buy a fire that will cool as well as heat you thanks to the patented FOND'ice system - a system which combines an air conditioning heat pump with the fire to create an efficient heating and cooling system.

Controlled by one easy to use programmer / room thermostat, the FOND'ice system is capable of circulating heat or cool air to several rooms via insulated ducting.

The clever controller even includes frost protection of the residence.

The air-conditioner is invisible from the room, runs silently and is integrated in to the fire surround.

Using heat pump technology, the heat pump turns a 1 kW/h input of electricity, in to a 3.3 kW/h cooling output.

The FOND'ice principle can be used with a whole variety of chic, contemporary fascias from the Fondis oriFlamme range - demonstrating that heating and cooling can look good as powering your house in an eco friendly way.

Fondis appliances oriFlamme fires boast an efficiency of up to 83% at reduced rate and burn for up to 14 hours on a single wood load.
