Q Flooring offers services to Co-op store

A Q Flooring Systems product story

Q Flooring has provide flooring for the refurbishment and extension of the Lincolnshire Co-operative's Branston Foodstore.

The terrazzo tiles which made up the existing floor were old and tired, many were cracked with substantial damage to the joints.

A new floor covering was required that could be overlaid on these tiles.

The replacement floor was required to meet the heavy demands of a busy retail environment, offering good slip resistance, and in order to provide the highest hygiene standards, be seamless and easy to clean.

Q Flooring's Retail Resin Flooring Division was called in to inspect and assess the floor, and make recommendations for its renovation.

The work had to be carried out over a 14 hour period during a single day.

Q Floorings recommendation was that the existing floor tiles be thoroughly shot blasted to give the mechanical key for the new floor.

A scratch levelling coat was then applied to eradicate any tile recess joints, followed by a 4mm grey acrylic resin system, then finally a seal coat.

The acrylic resin system used was selected as it could be fully cured two hours after application of the final seal coat, further reducing the floor refurbishing programme.

The seamless surface eliminates pockets which can lead to the accumulation of dirt or organic matter.
