For many organisations, a major power failure can have catastrophic economic and/or safety consequences. New IR Technology now provides 24/7 thermal monitoring for switchgear.

At particular risk are those involved in IT, Financial Services, Transport, Media, large scale production and of course Government Defence locations The best way to guard against major power failures is to monitor switchgear 24 hours a day, 365 days a year

Until now that hasn't been possible.

All that is usually be specified would be back up systems to cut in after the event, or periodic thermal imaging where the trouble spot could develop on the day after the scan, totally un-detected.

Now QHi can bring that desire for switchgear to be monitored 24 hours a day 7 days a week into a reality.

Their ExerTherm System can thermally monitor all key switchgear components on a continuous and non-contact basis by placing infrared sensors inside the switchgear enclosure, The IR sensors measure target temperature as the C rise on ambient.

Because the sensors are directly monitoring key components on a continuous non-contact basis, they miss nothing the installation is being watched 24 hrs a day 365 days a year.

The small low cost patent protected infrared sensors (IRt/c), which require no power, feed signals via data acquisition cards back to a PC with easy to use but highly effective software.

This includes on-going data logging, trend analysis and individually settable 2 stage alarms per channel, so problems can be identified at a very early stage of development and appropriate action planned in advance - in reality, spotting power failures before they happen.

ExerTherm can be fitted to new switchgear, or retro fitted to existing installations.

It can also be subsequently expanded and will connect to most building management systems.

It is already in use in several major multi-national financial institutions, the latest of which are new European HQ buildings based in London Docklands.

ExerTherm provides this unique protection for switchgear, never able to be specified before and is the perfect answer for any building which will house power critical industry.
