Exchem in conjunction with Quadrant have successfully pioneered a revolutionary range of hand held pneumatic bolting machines, suitable for use in mines and rail and civil tunnel repair.

The Super Turbo Bolter, built by Exchem, is a lightweight, portable, compressed air operated drilling and bolting machine used to drill long series holes - up to 8 meters long at up to 43 mm diameters - into which are inserted long bolts to make the mine roof and wall strata safe whilst allowing unhindered access for the miners Hand held pneumatic bolting machines give a significant cost advantage over other methods but have in the past contributed to Vibration White Fingers (VWF) caused by continual exposure of the hands and arms to vibrating equipment

The new remote controlled Super Turbo Bolter now affords vibration figures less than those expected from "the steering wheel of a finely balanced, high quality motor car" by using Quadrant technically advanced materials and components.

The lightweight, hard wear, impact resistant material developed by Quadrant reduces operator fatigue and improves safety due to reduced vibration and noise.

The new material also enhances life and wear and lowers maintenance costs resulting in overall high performance and reliability of the equipment.

Machined from near net custom cast shapes using the latest 5-axis machining techniques, the costs of the components are kept to a minimum.
