Architects Race Cottam Associates have designed flats on the latest phase of regeneration for one of Sheffield's most historic quarters, which will be sited next to the city's first rooftop park.
Contractors have moved in to build a major new mixed use scheme including student apartments, private residential units and a retail outlet on a brownfield industrial site on Edward Street in the St Vincent's Quarter of Sheffield Architects Race Cottam Associates have designed the flats which will include 417 student bedrooms arranged in cluster flats of three, four and five bed units as well as several self-contained studios

The development is next to the site of the proposed St Vincent's Park which will be Sheffield's first public open space to be located on top of a multi-storey car park and will be 'green roofed'.
The St Vincent's Quarter, in the north west of Sheffield, features a series of other important listed buildings along streets which still follow historic strip field boundaries.
Sitting high above the Don Valley basin, the area is famed for its panoramic city views towards the northern peaks and beyond.
Solly Street architects Race Cottam have been based in the area for 13 years and are a leading player in the transformation of the Quarter with past and current proposals for several sites in the area.
Architect Matt Beach, from Race Cottam Associates, said: "This development is fantastic news for the ongoing regeneration of the St Vincent's Quarter.
Big things are happening in the area currently and Race Cottam are proud to be having a helping hand in it." The units have been designed by Race Cottam on behalf of development managers AQH Micklegate.
