A solution to site waste management

A Reynaers product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jun 18, 2008

A new initiative from Reynaers Aluminium will enable all its fabricators to comply with the Government's forthcoming directive regarding site waste management plans easily - and at no extra cost!

With the new legislation expected in 2008, all main contractors and specialist sub-contractors will soon be required to have in position a full accountability procedure regarding waste recycling with full traceability for building sites.

Contractors and sub-contractors must be able to provide site waste management plans that ensure all aluminium window and door waste is recycled.

In addition, full accountability will be required with an audited recycling system of waste material within the manufacturing operation and waste materials being removed from the site.

As part of the procedure a target ratio of waste removed to recycling must be submitted, together with a log of materials being employed.

It is with this in mind that Reynaers has developed Rey-cycle; a simple three step site waste action programme which will enable all Reynaers fabricators to put the required new measures in place quickly and easily.

A comprehensive Rey-cycle information pack has been developed to assist in this process along with a dedicated website.

Paul Duffy, National Sales Manager of Reynaers explained: "Many main and sub-contractors will, quite understandably, see the forthcoming directive on recycling as another administrative burden creating yet more paperwork.

The aim of Rey-cycle is to ease that burden as much as possible, at no cost to our customers.

In addition to saving our customers a considerable amount of time and effort in setting up the required waste management plan, we're confident that end users will quickly realise that by specifying Reynaers and its fabricators they can ensure maximum recycling.

What's more, our fabricators will be able to gain marketing impact from developing site management plans for works they undertake.

It's a win/win situation".
