Location Location Location at SED

A Radiodetection product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Apr 1, 2003

At the SED2003 exhibition, Radiodetection will be showing an impressive display of pipe locating and inspection equipment for construction and hire industries.

The new RD4000 is the world's first web-enabled pipe and cable locating system, which will join the new Flexi-cam, the acclaimed GatorCam and the affordable ELS camera systems from the company's Inspection Systems Division.

The market leading C.A.T Cable Avoiding Tool and GENNY signal transmitter will also be on show.

Web access makes the RD4000 an extremely powerful tool for the detection and location of buried services such as gas, electricity, telecom, water and CATV.

Operators can use the web to register and configure the system online, access support (including system reconfiguration), and download additional features and upgrades to extend the lifetime of the instrument.

Other features include real-sound location, excellent locator reaction time along with smooth operation and presentation of results on the LCD screen.

Flexi-cam is the latest flexible, lightweight and compact system for small diameter pipe inspection.

It comprises a high sensitivity 25mm colour camera on 15 metres of flex-rod that can easily navigate multiple 90-degree bends in 32mm pipes.

Images are displayed on an integral LCD screen or, if required, recorded on an external video recorder.

Able to inspect pipes from 25mm to 100mm in diameter, flexi-cam is ideal for utility pipe inspection, central heating and air condition monitoring in building facilities management, and even rodent control applications in environmental health.

For demanding pipeline inspection needs, GatorCam offers a choice of camera size (in Black and White or self levelling colour versions), and variable lengths of flexible rod wound onto a special rugged rotating frame, with the controls and monitor built in a single housing.

The Pearpoint flexiprobe ELS is a low cost, basic unit ideal for small pipe diameter inspection in domestic plumbing, drainage and telecommunications applications.

Updated and enhanced since its first introduction back in the 1970's, the C.A.T has become the industry byword for cable locators and is a common feature in hire shops throughout the country.

The latest C.A.T+ can measure the depth of buried pipes and cables, and a visual signal strength display offers greater accuracy.

The 33kHz C.A.T+ incorporates all the popular features of the existing C.A.T.

Uses are varied and it is a must for anyone who undertakes any digging activity, from erecting fences to major design and build projects.

Radiodetection has served the construction market with innovative cable locating and pipe inspection systems for many years.

Despite the struggling economy, the company has seen growth in this area and views the SED2003 exhibition as an important event for targeting customers in the growing hire sector.
