Southend Girls High School can now feast in style after their new dining hall, filled with furniture from Remploy, was officially opened.

Students at Southend Girls High School can now feast in style after their plush new dining hall, filled with furniture from Remploy, was officially declared open for business More than 60 people attended a cocktail party in the new dining room, complete with background music from students, to celebrate the official opening of the new facilities

Located in what used to be the school gym, the new dining area has been built to replace facilities lost over a year earlier in an arson attack that also wiped out two classrooms and caused over GBP800,000's worth of damage.

Remploy sales manager Maxine Turney helped plan the new dining area, producing detailed layout drawings for the furniture that was supplied, which included a mixture of trendy metallic and beech wood finished tables, chairs and cafe stools.

In addition to the dining hall, a new reception area was also unveiled - again featuring a considerable contribution from Remploy Furniture.

School bursar Simon Caink is proud of the new facilities and extremely pleased with Remploy's contribution.

He said: "We've got a brand new reception which is akin to something you'd find in a decent hotel".

"Similarly, the dining area has been finished to a very high standard - in fact, it's of the sort of standard you'd expect in a good quality restaurant.

There seems to be a real "wow" factor with it and the students are really enjoying it".

He added: "We've got a lot of Remploy furniture right the way through the school, from classrooms through to staffrooms, common rooms and now obviously the dining and reception areas.

"We've always found the furniture to be robust, certainly quite modern and reasonably priced it's fair to say".

"We've had regular deliveries and I'm happy with the furniture quality".

Remploy Furniture is a market leader in the educational furniture sector and its dining hall range forms just a small part of its comprehensive catalogue which includes furniture suitable for classrooms, staffrooms, science and ICT rooms and libraries as well as products appropriate for offices and student accommodation.
