New alternative to timber decking from REHAU

A REHAU product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team May 21, 2009

Relazzo is the new decking system from REHAU which combines the natural look and feel of wood with the durability and weather resistance of modern polymers.

Manufactured from RAUWOOD, an innovative WPC (Wood Polymer Composite) material, it offers specifiers a new, high performance alternative to timber decking from one of the world's leading polymer manufacturers.

Because Relazzo uses natural wood fibres, it has a deceptively real wood appearance and a welcoming, warm feeling underfoot.

However, because it is combined with polymer, it will not split or warp, resists the growth of fungus and requires only minimal maintenance.

Relazzo also has exceptional strength and surface hardness which means it can be used in even the most damp or exposed areas and to create innovative yet very stable deck designs which would be much more difficult to achieve in timber.

Each WPC Relazzo board comes with a subtle groove on one side and a ridged surface on the other.

These are interchangeable to allow for creative design schemes and are available in six timber effect finishes - dark brown (Terra), mid brown (Ambra), light brown (Sabbia or Grano), red brown (Ametista) or grey (Ciottolo).

The complete Relazzo system also includes pre-sized substructure joists, fixing brackets, end caps and trims.

The distances between the boards are predetermined by the brackets which makes the system quick and easy to construct.

The end caps are colour matched or, for a more contemporary finish, users can choose aluminium trims.

The RAUWOOD material used to manufacture Relazzo contains only wood fibres from sustainable European forestry and environmentally friendly polypropylenes.

REHAU is one of the world's most technically advanced polymer producers and is well known in the UK for its PVC-U window profile, underfloor heating and renewable energy systems, furniture components and worktop materials.
