Renault Premium sees off competition
Thomas Armstrong (Holdings) of Maryport, Cumbria, has taken delivery of 10 new 6x2 Renault Premium 440s, through Border Trucks Carlisle.
Thomas Armstrong (Holdings) Limited of Maryport, Cumbria, has taken delivery of 10 new 6x2 Renault Premium 440s, through Border Trucks Carlisle.
The trucks, which have the Optidriver II automated transmission, have been supplied with a full repair and maintenance contract.
This is an important conquest deal for Border Trucks Carlisle, with the Renault Premiums being selected over Mercedes Benz, DAF and Volvo.
Thomas Armstrong is a leading manufacturer of quality building products and the trucks will be used to transport construction materials, concrete blocks and aggregate to building sites across the North of England.
The Renault Premiums are used to pull a mix of bulk tipping trailers, cement tankers, curtainsiders and trailers.
Each truck's chassis has an additional catwalk and the introduction of Alloy wheels means the trucks will be significantly lighter than most competitors.
"We have had plenty of Renault trucks in the past and found them to be very reliable," says Frank Harkness of Thomas Armstrong .
"However, it was the excellent all round package put together by Border Trucks Carlisle that clinched the Renault Premium deal".
Harkness cited the combination of price, residual value and the RandM package as a key factor in the company's purchase decision.
A guaranteed buy back after three years has also been included in the deal.
"The excellent deal that we were offered by Border Trucks Carlisle meant that we were also able to opt for the Optidriver II automated transmission," says Harkness.
"We are looking forward, therefore, to seeing cost improvements on engine wear, as well as fuel savings".
