Speed drying system breaks all records
The Revival Company's speed drying system has dried 88 flooded council properties in Wakefield in record time.
The flats and houses were seriously flooded in June and July of this year.
All the properties are now dry and ready for redecoration work.
Without the speed-drying system, the total time would have been barely a third of the way through.
Revival was one of the first companies in the UK to use the speed-drying system, and in fact are the biggest company in Europe in terms of owning the new technology, having 8 machines in their possession at present.
The system dramatically cuts drying-out time from months to just a few weeks or even days.
This system potentially saves thousands of pounds by minimising the time lost when properties are out of action.
Graham Orriss, Managing Director of The Revival Company, said: "In this case, all the families living in these properties would have needed to be re-housed by the council".
"This was not only going to be highly disruptive for the families involved, but also very expensive for the council".
"However, because of our Speed-Drying Systems, we only took 2 days to dry 2 houses, so residents only had to endure a couple of nights from their homes, meaning all costs were brought down to an absolute minimum".
The Revival Speed Drying System was monitored through an internet connection by the local staff in Halifax.
Revival staff were not only able to monitor progress but also to make changes to the temperature of the drying system's output.
This ensured the most efficient level of humidity was maintained in the houses so speeding the process to the maximum.
All 88 houses were dried within 6 weeks, saving the City of Wakefield Metropolitan District Council a vast amount of time and money.
After The Revival company had finished the project, out of the 88 houses that were serviced, 87 of them did not have to be re-plastered or infact need any major repair work done, again saving the council a lot of money, and keeping the residents very happy in what was a very distressing time.
Revival's manager, Andrew Fairhurst, who was working on the project closely with Andrew Smeaton of the Wakefield Council, added: "All of the houses had suffered an average of 2 feet of water".
"The City of Wakefield Metropolitan District Council were clearly concerned about the damage that the floods had made, and needed them dried out quickly".
"Without the speed-drying systems we wouldn't have been able to achieve what we have achieved".
"It is an amazing piece of equipment, without it these families would not have been able to return to their homes so quickly - it truly is breaking records".
