Free RWM 09 seminars for Councils and industry

The Recycling and Waste Management Exhibition at Birmingham NEC is totally free but the information you gather and contacts you make could prove invaluable to your business or organisation.

With over 500 exhibiting companies, 36 free seminar sessions, and a new networking zone, RWM 09 will show you how to cut costs, improve efficiency, stay ahead of the competition and remain sustainable in a difficult economy.

Speakers have already been confirmed for the comprehensive free seminar programme which will run simultaneously over the three-day show in three dedicated seminar theatres.

Any business which generates waste should be able to find a session relevant to them in the Business Seminar Theatre, with themed days for manufacturing, construction and retail.

Confirmed speakers include Mandy Keepax, head of facilities management at Marks and Spencer, Dr Anne-Gaelle Collot, environment policy adviser, Chemicals Industries Association and Stephen Wielebski, divisional development director, Miller Homes.

The Local Authority Seminar Theatre, supported by the Local Authority Recycling Advisory Committee, will cover legislation, finance and procurement on Day One including a case study on alternative funding mechanisms by head of waste management at West Sussex County Council.

Day Two will look at hazardous waste and Waste Electrical Electronic Equipment featuring policies for managing radioactive waste, presented by Fred Barker, executive director, Nuclear Legacy Advisory Forum.

The final day's sessions will offer delegates practical advice and case studies to help them to improve efficiency, communications and stakeholder engagement.

New for 2009, the Energy and Water Seminar Theatre has been introduced for the increasing number of RWM visitors who have responsibility for energy and water resources in addition to their waste and recycling role.

The programme features a presentation from Envirowise, and an entire day dedicated to energy from waste.
