Reznor downflow units for yarn manufacturer

Richards of Aberdeen, a leading manufacturer of high quality yarn for carpet making, has installed 'third generation' heating from Reznor at its refurbished premises.
The heaters achieve draught-free comfort conditions with very economical operation.
When Richards took over an old bakery in the city, the existing heating system was adapted to the warm conditions generated by bread making and was therefore inadequate for the building's new purpose.
The 9,300m2 building consists of three interconnected sheds that now house four production lines, where loose fibre (called sliver) is spun into continuous yarn and wound on to cones.
It is important to Richards' quality standards and the health and safety of employees to avoid generating airborne fibre and dust particles within the factory.
A draught-free environment was a pre-requisite of the heating system.
Engineering consultants NIFES Group recommended a Reznor warm air heating solution using the new V3 downflow unit.
A total of 30 V3 heaters were suspended in the roof apex at 6.5m, well clear of the production lines.
The downflow units effectively direct warm air to where it is needed in the lowest two metres of the building, without creating air movement where the fibres are being processed.
The heaters were installed by project heating engineers Sparks Mechanical Services of Aberdeen.
The Reznor heaters were specified for their economy, ease of installation and ability to achieve good distribution over a large area.
Each unit can be controlled separately for maximum flexibility.
Roddy Duncan of Richards comments: "The heaters maintain a constant 20 degrees C comfort temperature within the factory and answer our need to minimise loose fibres and dust".
