Latex powders for insulation and
finishing
Rhodia PC and s launches a new range of Rhoximat latex powders for exterior insulation and finishing systems
In order to respond to formulators' performance requirements, Rhodia Performance Coatings and Services has developed a new range of Rhoximat latex powders intended for Exterior Insulation and Finishing Systems These powders are the result of intensive research and have been specially designed to both improve the adhesion of mortars on insulating materials and reduce the sensitivity of mortars to water

During the European Coatings Show at the end of April 2005, Rhodia Performance Coatings and Services will present the first two products in this new range, Rhoximat UP 820 A and Rhoximat HP 860 H, to the European market.
Exterior Insulation and Finishing Systems, or EIFS, is one of the most demanding applications in the external coatings sector.
In particular, it is critical to get mortars to adhere to the insulating material (e.g polystyrene foam board) when the system is subject to humid climatic conditions.

The redispersible Rhoximat latex powders for EIFS offer different compromises between properties such as adhesion and water repellency in order to fit the various formulators' needs.
Due to their extreme versatility, they can be used not only for the different coats of EIFS mortars but also in other applications, enabling formulators to rationalize their raw materials and manage the production of dry mortars more easily.
The Rhoximat UP 820 A and Rhoximat HP 860 H have excellent adhesion and water repellent properties, enabling high freeze/thaw resistance (separation of coats and appearance of cracks).
These new powders also have exceptional mechanical properties, improving the system's resistance to impacts and perforation.
The product of a breakthrough terpolymer technology, Rhoximat UP 820 A was designed to offer exceptional adhesion to polystyrene when compared to the products currently available on the market, especially in humid conditions, while providing a remarkable level of water repellence.
Not only can it be used in all of the EIFS system's mortar coats (from the adhesive to the finish) but also in ceramic tile adhesives, where it provides exceptional adhesion in humid conditions.
Rhoximat HP 860 H offers remarkable water repellence while maintaining a very good level of adhesion.
It can be used in all of the coats of EIFS mortars and in other applications where a high degree of water repellence is required, such as water repellent jointing mortars, external renders and certain plasters.
Rhodia provides its customers with real expertise in formulation by offering a whole range of associated products.
In addition to its new Rhoximat redispersable latex powders for EIFS, Rhodia offers additives such as polyamide fibres for reinforcing mechanical strength, dispersions of polymers for priming and finishing coats and rheological agents for mortars.
